Recap Monorailex 2025 – IMA at TransMEA, Cairo – WG Tires-Guideway Surface Interface – New WG Expansion Joints – Monorail Book 2nd edition – New Members 2025
We encourage and invite professionals across the world to submit paper proposals for the Monorailex 2026 Conference, scheduled to be held in Cairo, Egypt on September 17 through 20, 2026 including a technical visit to the new „East of Nile“ monorail line.
Monorailex is the annual conference of the International Monorail Association with its goal to provide a platform to present new research and development of monorail systems and operational findings. This platform targets towards experts involved in transportation planning in communities and metropolitan regions, in the industry as monorail system suppliers, the supply and service industries for vehicles and infrastructure, researchers and operators for mass transportation for an exchange.
The International Monorail Association also welcomes researchers to submit their original articles, which can be of academic or practical value, to be published for the first time. We seek contributions that illustrate the different transportation systems, and ways to enhance their efficiency and showcase opportunities for empowering cities in finding solutions in mass transportation.
Please visit www.monorailex2026.org for all details.
The International Monorail Association is a non-for profit members association whose mission is to organize the mass transit global monorail sector, promote the application of monorail, publish information, and promote the establishment of performance-based standards. Currently the association has almost 40 member companies – spread around the globe.
The aim is to provide a platform for interaction between public authorities, the monorail OEM industry, the monorail operating and maintenance companies, consulting engineering companies and monorail system builders, certification and testing institutes, with the purpose to aid in the responsible and efficient use of monorails for public mass transit.
A monorail is a transport system that travels either on or under a single narrow track or, better, a guide beam…
Monorails are an accepted system in mass transit. The economic advantage of cost efficiency, safety and much shorter implementation times make them a reliable transportation alternative and stable system for growing urban areas…
Monorails – both straddle and suspended types – currently operate without a dedicated standard in place.
For this reason, the International Monorail Association has set itself the goal of developing guidelines that provide better orientation for planners, operators and the entire industry. Our focus is on performance-based standardisation always with reference to existing, applicable rules, e.g. standards applicable to Automated People Movers.
With the ‘Performance Specification for a Turnkey Mass Transit Monorail System’ the first guideline was released in 2022 followed by a series of other guides. Learn more about IMA’s guidelines here.
